You are deliberately creating mischief by continuing to imply that LBB does not (or might not) run in XP, despite my repeated assurances that it does. Why?

No, Richard please don't say that.

I just worry a bout my small mobile PC, actually I have no problem with LBB on XP. I am happy with it.
But as I said when I read that comment from you. I said to my self soon or later Richard will develop LBB for modern OP systems from MS which it could be Win64bit (who knows?) then the machines we have which it works on xp32 became useless.
So I ask you to release a version for xp.

There is no "deliberately" angry

There is no " creating mischief "

Whey you are so sensitive??

Thanks a lot, I will not ask you again.

LBB works by translating the program to BBC BASIC. BBC BASIC is a 32-bit language (even the implementations on the 6502 and Z80 8-bit processors were 32-bit!). So there will never be a 64-bit version of LBB.

I will say it again: the current version of LBB works in Windows XP. There is no need for me to release a version for XP. And anyway why do you single out XP? Windows Vista was available in both 32-bit and 64-bit variants, so was Windows 7 and Windows 8. Even Windows 10 is, I believe, still available in a 32-bit form. So XP isn't special in being a 32-bit version of Windows.

I try always to be polite to others, and I expect others to be polite to me. I have deleted your abusive posts.

I said that too, you don't need to say it again.

I find it very difficult to understand you, perhaps something is 'lost in translation' undecided

If your 'mobile PC' currently runs LBB why are you worried? LBB exists, I can't make it disappear! If you worry that a future version of LBB might not run on XP - despite me telling you that won't happen - all you've got to do is to keep a copy of a version which does. You are in control.

If I had a 'worry' it would be that one day Microsoft will remove the 32-bit functionality in Windows (WoW64) and support only 64-bit programs. If that ever happens BBC BASIC won't work, LBB won't work, LB and JB won't work (and nor will thousands of other applications).

For as long as Windows runs primarily on the x86 platform I can't see any reason why 32-bit functionality would ever be removed. It's supported by the CPU itself, and many applications simply wouldn't benefit from being converted to 64-bits (even if it is possible).

But I haven't got a crystal ball. Will Microsoft Windows still exist in 20 years time? Will the x86 CPU architecture survive that long? Who knows?

What I do know is that there are a lot more serious things to worry about. I worry about my health. I worry about the planet. I worry about the future of mankind.

Richard.
